Bike trails in the Ain
The bike trails of the Ain are popular with both amateur and seasoned cyclists. With 3,500 km of circuits and trails there is something for every level, from a gentle family cycle ride to a competitive event. The Greenway (60 km) or the Via Rhôna (45 km) offer easy going stretches ideal for kids, while the passes (including the Grand Colombier which features in the Tour de France) are more challenging. Many campsites offer cycle hire, allowing you to leave bikes at home and simply hire them when you wish.
Mountain bike trails of the Ain
The hills and peaks of the Jura and the Ain create a magnificent playground for keen mountain bikers. Over 1,500 km of marked trails weave through the region, including major routes like the Grande Traversée du Jura. From every campsite in the Ain there are bike trails and paths to follow, each with its own challenges and spectacluar scenery. Just ask at reception where they usually have maps too.
